Dhadak Movie Review (2018) | Cast, storyline & more
Dhadak is a 2018 Indian romantic drama film directed by Shashank Khaitan and starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in lead roles. The movie is an adaptation of the 2016 Marathi film Sairat, set in Rajasthan.
Cast and characters: JAHVI KAPOOR plays Parthavi Singh, the daughter of a wealthy politician. Janhvi’s performance as Parthavi is outstanding as she expertly captures her free-spirited and rebellious nature as an adequate representation of this character.
Ishaan Khatter delivers an outstanding performance as Madhukar Bagla, an upper-caste young man from Bihar who falls for Parthavi from her lower-caste family. His portrayal highlights both the vulnerability and intensity of Madhukar Bagla’s character.
Storyline: Dhadak follows Parthavi and Madhukar as they fall in love despite belonging to different castes, only to face opposition from their families, who disapprove due to social and economic differences.
This movie effectively depicts the struggles a couple must overcome to find love and the tensions between tradition and modernity that arise throughout.
The music of Dhadak was composed by Ajay-Atul, and audiences enjoyed listening to its infectious soundtrack. Songs such as “Dhadak Title Track” and “Zingaat”, in particular, are especially beloved among viewers; these tunes perfectly captured the atmosphere of Dhadak and added another layer of enjoyment for its audiences.
